The final few days of summer feature kid-friendly fun—and fun that'll make you feel like a kid—including Austin's ice cream festival and grape stomps at Texas wineries.

Peach and Melon Festival and Tractor Pulls

De Leon: Aug. 8-12
The 103rd annual event takes over downtown De Leon with a classic car show, a carnival, food booths and vendors, live music and dancing, a parade, tractor pulls for kids and adults, a 5K run, a "42" Domino tournament, a pageant, a seed-spitting contest, and free watermelon on Saturday.

Grape Stomp at Pedernales Cellars

Stonewall: Aug. 11-13, 18-20, 25-27
Celebrate the grape harvest by stomping grapes, listening to live music, and enjoying award-winning wines at Pedernales Cellars. Seeing as it's harvest season, plenty of other Texas wineries are organizing grape stomps—like Windy Winery's Harvest Grape Stomp and Crush for Fun at Pleasant Hill Winery. Ladies Kingfish Tournament

South Padre Island: Aug. 11-13
This women's competition is divided into two divisions, bay and offshore. At the South Padre Island Convention Centre, trophies will be awarded to the first four places in each category, and Grand Champion Bay and Grand Champion Offshore winners will also receive trophies.

Ice Cream Festival

Austin: Aug. 12
This annual festival at Fiesta Gardens is fun for the whole family with games, activities, contests, live entertainment, and of course ice cream to keep you cool and happy. 

"Leap of Faith" Anniversary Celebration

Plainview: Aug. 12 
In partnership with the Texas Film Commission, the city will host a celebration in honor of the 25th anniversary of the locally filmed movie starring Steve Martin and Debra Winger. The event will include self-guided tours of filming sites, a reception honoring director Richard Pearce, and a free viewing of the movie at the Fair Theater. Pearce will have a question and answer session following the movie.

El Camino Real de SUP

Bastrop: Aug. 12
Texas' original stand-up paddleboard river festival, the fifth annual event includes races and an obstacle course for average paddlers, elite paddlers, weekend warriors and beginners alike. Enjoy great food and music, and entertainment for the whole family.

Chappell Hill Lavender and Wine Fest

Brenham: Aug. 12
Chappell Hill Lavender and Berry Farm's event will feature wine and food tastings, vendors, music, crafts, lavender cuisine, demonstrations, and more. 

The Extremadura Regiment in Texas 1813-1821

Goliad: Aug. 12
Through the medium of living history backed by firsthand accounts and contemporary sources, this event at Presidio La Bahia will bring a soldier in the Spanish army to life for a day. 

"Natural Beauty: Fiesta of Land, Water, and Sky"

San Antonio: Through Aug. 13
It's the final weekend to catch this exhibit at the Witte Museum, which explores the way land, water, and sky have shaped the relationship between Texans and this place we now call Texas for millennia. From rolling prairies filled with wildflowers to starry skies that spark the imagination, this exhibition explores the theme of land, water, and sky through the museum's collection of coronation robes.

Chisholm Trail Western Art Show

Nocona: Through Aug. 15
Immerse yourself in Western art during the final weekend of this exhibit at the Tales 'n' Trails Museum. This juried art show represents the Chisholm Trail and life in the late 1800s.
