Saddle up for a wild weekend—events include the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo (featuring the world's largest junior livestock show), Mardi Gras festivities, and early Valentine's concerts to celebrate with your sweetie.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

San Antonio: Feb. 8-25 
Awarded the PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year for an unprecedented 12 consecutive years, you'll see the nation's top rodeo athletes vie for a $1.7 million purse. Add world-class entertainment following the Rodeo to the livestock events, carnival, fun fair food, shopping, educational exhibits, as well as family-friendly entertainment on the grounds, and there truly is something for everyone. 

Laredo Birding Festival

Laredo: Feb. 7-10
Come bird on the border at the sixth annual festival, where you can bird Laredo hotspots and dozens of scenic South Texas ranches. The event offers birders an opportunity to explore and observe hundreds of species of birds with a professional field guide on a small and intimate custom-tailored trip. 

Mardi Gras Nocona Style

Nocona: Feb. 8-10
Boots, beads, and classic cars highlight the unusual twist the town of Nocona makes during the annual Mardi Gras celebration. Events include a Mardi Gras parade. 

Luckenbach Hug-In and Valentine Ball

Fredericksburg: Feb. 9-10
Get back to the basics of love during this annual camping event with plenty of boot scootin' in the historic Luckenbach Texas Dance Hall. 

Lunar New Year Festival

Grand Prairie: Feb. 9-11, 16-18
The festival celebrates the coming of the lunar year in Asian culture. Enjoy nightly concerts, multicultural performances, martial arts, a kid zone, and much more. 

Czech Music Festival

Ennis: Feb. 9-10
Enjoy the pre-party Friday evening in the clubroom featuring live music by Out of the Box, then come back Saturday for good food, five live bands, and family fun. 

Carnaval Brasileiro

Austin: Feb. 10
One of the biggest Brazilian Carnaval celebrations outside Brazil. Brasileiro-style samba, costumes, and wild abandon can all be seen in the heart of Texas. 

Boerne Chocolate Walk 

Boerne: Feb. 10
Join the Boerne community for this sweet event. The walk will take you through Boerne's downtown district where you will see unique stores, galleries, and restaurants. 

Mardi Gras on The Stroll 

Magnolia: Feb. 10
A family-friendly Mardi Gras on The Stroll for all ages; costumes welcomed for the Dancing Umbrella Parade. Start the day early with the Cajun Ready Mix Cookoff. 

Sweetheart Safari Dinner and Tour 

Glen Rose: Feb. 10
Impress your sweetheart with a three-course candlelight dinner near a watering hole, live music, and an evening wildlife tour at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.

Krewe of Barkus Mardi Gras Dog Parade 

McKinney: Feb. 11
Families will gather for the 16th year and dress in costumes fitting this year's theme, "The Bark-A-Palooza Tour Around the World—Celebrating Countries and Cultures Across the Globe," to parade around the downtown square. Prizes for top costumes, so come decked out in your Mardi Gras best. 

Valentine's Concert 

Round Top: Feb. 10
Join Dick Smith and friends for another show of popular songs to celebrate the special day for sweethearts. After the performance, join Festival Hill staff and friends on the Concert Hall stage for a reception with refreshing drinks and delectable Valentine treats from the Festival Hill Kitchen. You will have an opportunity to sponsor a book of your choice for the Adopt-a-Book Program and bid on special silent auction items. Your ticket enters you in a drawing for a chance to win fantastic door prizes. 

MardiGras Galveston

Galveston: Through Feb. 13
The third largest Mardi Gras in the country features parades, concerts, masked balls, balcony parties, and more.
