More events than you can shake a stick at—Galveston's first Tall Ships Challenge, the kickoff weekend for the Scarborough Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie, wildflower celebrations, and more.

Tall Ships Galveston

Galveston: April 5-8 
For the first time in history, Tall Ships America brings its Tall Ships Challenge to the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston. The new festival will include ship tours, sail-away excursions, music, and other special events at Galveston Pier 21.

Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair

Sugar Land: April 5-8 
Attracting more than 10,000 food- and wine-lovers annually, this culinary festival is where top chefs share secrets, sommeliers get uncorked, and all manner of foodies—from bonafide gourmands to everyday eaters—come to indulge in fantastic fare, sensational spirits, and some of the finest wines around.

Texas Hill Country Wine and Wildflower Journey

Fredericksburg: April 6-22 
Enjoy the Texas Hill Country wineries and wildflowers. Self-guided tour includes special events, tastings, and discounts. 

Waltstock & Barrel Wine and Music Festival

Fredericksburg: April 6-7 
Large music, wine, and craft beer festival at Texas Wine Country Jellystone Park Camp-Resort with headliner Walt Wilkins. Artists and food trucks, too. 

Llano Fiddle Fest Weekend

Llano: April 6-8 
It's all about the fiddle—Texas fiddle that is. Fiddle contests including the 41st Llano Open Fiddle Contest with a $1000 first place prize, concerts, fiddle jams, the Fiddle Faddle toss out, a Sunday river service with cowboy breakfast, and more. 

Deep Ellum Arts Festival

Dallas: April 6-8 
Six blocks of Main Street in the Deep Ellum entertainment district will be transformed into one enormous street festival. The 24th annual event features 200 top-notch decorative and visual artists, 150 original bands and singer/songwriters performing from six different stages and two additional performance areas, the renowned Pet Parade, and enticing foods and drinks.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival

Waxahachie: April 7-8 through May 26-28 
Its opening weekend for this 8-weekend festival set back in time of King Henry VII with arts, crafts, vendors, food, and entertainment.

West of the Pecos Historical/Travel Fair

Langtry: April 7
Experience the Old West come to life by walking through the Jersey Lilly Saloon/Courthouse and the home of Judge Roy Bean, "The Opera House." The fair offers Old West re-enactments, prehistoric Native American artifacts, sheep-shearing, living history demonstrations, and flint knapping; visit the booths of a host of Big Bend/Hill Country travel demonstrations. 

Grand Kids Festival

Galveston: April 7
Hosted by the Grand 1894 Opera House, this free event on Postoffice Street features performers, face painting, arts and crafts, and more. Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty return to celebrate with The Grand. 

Cajun Heritage Festival

Port Arthur: April 7
A day-long celebration of heritage, with generations appreciating modern and traditional music during the Elite Redfish Series. Dance to foot-tapping sounds and experience the spice of cajun flavors. 

Wildflower Celebration at Wildseed Farms

Fredericksburg: April 7-21
Celebrate the arrival of spring and Texas wildflowers with colorful fields, great shopping, butterfly gardens, and special activities. 

Dogwood Festival

Woodville: April 7
The 75th annual celebration of springtime in East Texas includes a 5K fun run, arts and crafts, antique cars and motorcycles, a parade, the coronation of the Dogwood Queen, an outdoor historical play, and a fireworks finale. 

Heart of Texas Air Show

Waco: April 7-8
Military aircraft and jets, warbirds, static aircraft, a large kids area, and more. Fly in historic warbird aircraft and helicopters. 

Spring Fling at Chandor Gardens

Weatherford: April 7
Celebrate the arrival of a long-awaited spring season in the gardens at this annual event featuring music, food, area artists, and craftsman. The gardens will be loaded with talented people displaying, demonstrating, and selling their unique arts and crafts.
