Spend this Mother's Day weekend at one of these family friendly events—including the annual Texas Crab Festival, Beaumont's Maypole Festival, and a fun run through the scenic flower fields of Wildseed Farms.

Texas Crab Festival

Crystal Beach: May 11-13
Dive into more gulf-coast style music, art, and crabs than you can shake a claw at. A full weekend of family entertainment features live music, coastal arts and crafts, a Crab Gumbo cook-off, crab races, carnival rides, contests, games, and booth after booth of fresh local seafood and festival favorites. 

Electra Goat Barbecue and Craft Show

Electra: May 11-12
During the 35th annual cook-off sanctioned by Lone Star Barbecue Society, cookers compete in four meat categories: goat, chicken, brisket, and ribs. Also enjoy Jackpot Steak, beans, salsa, and drinks, plus a large area of craft booths and kid games. There will be live entertainment and a free dance Friday night. 

Dulcimer Festival

Glen Rose: May 11-13
Three days of dulcimer music in Oakdale Park.

Maypole Festival

Beaumont: May 12
Held on the second Saturday in May, this annual blessing of the crops and celebration of the arts at Beaumont Botanical Gardens is for young and old alike. Stroll through the garden's 23 acres of green serenity and shop local art and food vendors. Children can enjoy carnival games, face painting, and feeding the giant koi in the outdoor fish pond. The festival ends with the blessing of the crops, followed by a maypole dance to wrap the maypole. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged. 

Squeeze Me On the Square: Squeeze-Box Music Fest

Kyle: May 12 
Featuring bands from across the state and across music genres that all feature an accordion or squeeze box instrument. From German to conjunto and Czech to cajun, enjoy them all.

Canadian River Music Festival

Canadian: May 12 
Making a name for Canadian, Texas, by providing great music in a hometown setting. 

Cajun Fest

Wichita Falls: May 12 
A Texoma twist on the 11th annual Cajun Fest. Grab your family and friends, find your old Mardi Gras beads, search for your craziest hats and Cajun attire, and then head downtown to shop, eat, play, and dance.

Texas Flower Country Women's 5K and 10K Run

Fredericksburg: May 12
Run or walk through the fields of beautiful Wildseed Farms. After the run, enjoy the farm's scenic grounds, a Champagne brunch, craft beer, massages, live music, and the boutiques of Wildseed Farms.

Mother's Weekend Chocolate Tours

Dallas: May 12-13
What better way to treat your mom than this decadent chocolate tour, which features indulgent stops such as an old-world bakery full of rich chocolate surprises, a cheese and chocolate pairing, a Latin-inspired chocolate must, and so much more. Wings over Paris

Paris: May 12
This annual air show offers activities for all ages, including free airplane rides for kids ages 8-12, and helicopter and airplane rides for adults. Enjoy high-flying aerobatics by a variety of performers, with trailing smoke, dropping in dives, rolling loops, and flying formations. 

National Train Day

Temple: May 12
Free festivities at the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum include family activities and crafts, model train displays, train watching, and more. 

Fort Worth Opera Festival

Fort Worth: Through May 13
See everything through the eyes of the performers with exclusive backstage tours of Bass Performance Hall. Get an inside look at the world that influenced the composer and librettist during the pre-show Opera Previews.
