A grand prize for Best Pie receives a special award, and all winning pies are auctioned. All funds raised from selling slices of pies and hot dogs go directly to the Wimberley Valley Museum. The music was full of style and emotion with bands such as the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and a band from Jacksonville, Florida called Molly Hatchet in the forefront. Molly Hatchet toured with Aerosmith, Bob Seger, and The Rolling Stones. Today, Molly Hatchet’s tradition and legacy lives on.

All races are timed and scored, and medals are given in a variety of categories. The race also features a 5K and a 1-mile fun run.

Historic Gillespie County Jail Tours

Tour this two-story stone structure that served as the fourth jail for Gillespie County, organized in 1848 and constructed in 1885. The ground floor housed a holding area and living quarters for the jailer. The second floor had two steel-clad cells located against the east wall and maximum security cells in the center and at the back. The building was used as a county jail until 1939.
