A grand prize for Best Pie receives a special award, and all winning pies are auctioned. All funds raised from selling slices of pies and hot dogs go directly to the Wimberley Valley Museum. A pie-eating contest is also part of the day, along with music provided by Marvin and Laura Bottera.

In the early 1970s, a new genre of music was emerging in Jacksonville, Florida. A mixture of blues, country, gospel, and the English invasion of rock ‘n’ roll that later was coined Southern rock. The music was full of style and emotion with bands such as the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and a band from Jacksonville, Florida called Molly Hatchet in the forefront. Molly Hatchet toured with Aerosmith, Bob Seger, and The Rolling Stones. Today, Molly Hatchet’s tradition and legacy lives on.

Tour this two-story stone structure that served as the fourth jail for Gillespie County, organized in 1848 and constructed in 1885.
