Texas Cavaliers River Parade

The San Antonio River comes alive with music, festivities, and vibrant floats for the 79th annual Texas Cavaliers River Parade. This one-of-a-kind parade started in 1941 after a group of Texas Cavaliers witnessed boats and barges decorated with flowers in the “floating gardens” of Mexico City. Today, the parade attracts more than 250,000 spectators, and all the proceeds go to local children’s charities.
“The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)“

Visit with historians as they bring the past to life and explore little-known stories from the Presidio’s early days. Learn about the daily life of a presidial trooper stationed on the frontier of Spanish Texas. Explore the stone walls and battlements of the old presidio and duck inside for a look at the museum and collection of artifacts from the 1700 and 1800s.

The oldest outdoor dance performance of its kind in the United States, Fiesta Noche del Rio, Spanish for “Party Night on the River,” is a musical variety show of authentic Mexican, Spanish, and Texas songs and dances performed by local professionals. San Antonio’s annual iconic cultural performance, full of colorfully costumed dancers and rich, lush sounds, brings to life the deep roots that make San Antonio a special place for love and life. The audience is seated on tiered grass seats across the river from the stage, located in La Villita, the Little Spanish Village of the city.

This festival that honors renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo as well as the spirit of perseverance and empowerment. FridaFest features live art demonstrations and performances, Frida’s zoo and animal exhibit, and a number of children’s activities. The festival also includes the Frida Look-A-Like Contest which takes place in the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium. The evening is capped off by a concert that will have the whole family dancing.
