3 c. self-rising flour (usually available in grocery stores alongside other flours)
1/4 c. sugar
1 bottle cold beer (the colder the better)
1/2 stick butter or margarine
Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix with a fork just until ingredients are combined and flour is thoroughly moisten. Batter will be lumpy.
Scrape into a greased and floured standard loaf pan, and spread into corners. Dot top with pats of butter. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Best served hot.
