Halloween certainly drums up images of ghosts, goblins and the sort, but the truth is, most Texans can tell you a solid ghost story anytime of the year. Whether skeptic or believer, sharing a first-hand experience or passing on the tale, there are many goosebump-inducing stories to be told.

You can’t swing a cat in Texas without hitting a haunted hotspot. Not that I would swing a cat! That would be mean.
My scariest story comes from an overnight stay in the officer’s quarters at Presidio la Bahia in Goliad. Did you know you can rent the quarters and have the whole haunted place to yourself, with the ghosts of massacred soldiers vying for your attention? Well, you can, and that’s what it felt like!
I was invited to go along with ghost hunters – gadgets and gear galore. Scared as I was of what frightening things I might encounter, my curiosity was stronger. So I accepted, and did I ever have some tales to tell.
Then there was the “Railroad Tracks” experience I had in San Antonio. I know some of you know what I’m talking about. Perhaps I’ll share those stories later this month, but for now I want to hear from you. Maybe you have your own stories about those locations or others.
