Hosted by the Texas Gourd Society, this festival showcases the creativity of local gourd artists and celebrates this ancient art—a pastime. This year features a gourd art competition, gourd art sales, gourd supplies, technique classes, and a raffle to raise funds for gourd art educational outreach.
If a certain creamy breakfast food really floats your oat, head to Bertram and neighboring Oatmeal for this free annual event, celebrating its 42nd year. Festivities include the “Miss Oatmeal” pageant, artisans, vendors, music, parades, food, games, an oatmeal baking competition, a street dance, and barbecue cookoff.
This women-only fishing tournament benefits the Purple Door, an organization that provides services throughout South Texas to victims and survivors of family violence and sexual assault. Started in 1989, the event features more than 70 boats and 400 anglers competing.
