Bring the family to Abilene for a weekend of beautiful flying fun at the annual Big Country Balloon Festival. From Sept. 27-29, hot air balloon pilots descend to the town to show off their balloons and flying skills. Make a reservation to take a hot air balloon ride, watch as professional pilots float through the sky, and enjoy the many other attractions at the event. There’s a kids center with tons of games, a mechanical bull, pony rides, kite flying, and a kiddie train. The food options range from pizza to Mexican food to turkey legs and other carnival classics, and there’s live music and entertainment every day.
