The Gillespie County Fair, one of the oldest county fairs in Texas, is back for its 131st year, and it’s bringing all the necessities for a classic Texas fair. Play games and enjoy the rides at the carnival, watch the parade go by with intricately decorated floats, check out the agricultural and household exhibits, and see horses take to the racetrack at the pari-mutuel horse race. It wouldn’t be a county fair without some competition, and there are cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, gardening, and livestock events where both the junior and adult categories face off. There are also dances and concerts throughout the weekend, including a “Ladies of Country” concert on Saturday.
