Unsure if you’re ready to take on the 260-mile Texas Water Safari canoe race in June? First, try a far shorter version of the race: the Junior Texas Water Safari. On Sept. 21, join a fleet of canoes in San Marcos for a 16-mile race on the San Marcos River. It is definitely a sprint race, so be ready to face off against some very serious competitors. Many people use the Junior Safari as one of many training runs before the following year’s main event. There is a party after the race is complete, so you’ll have a chance to mingle with other competitors and hear their stories from the many years of the safari.
