Preparing an entry at the annual World Championship Barbecue Goat Cookoff

There are a lot of barbecue competitions in the Lone Star State, but few feature goat as the primary fare. The World Championship Barbecue Goat Cookoff is back for its 46th year, and its packed schedule means there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Along with the barbecue competition—which features ribs, chicken, beans, and, of course, goat—there is a welcome dance, an arts and crafts fair, live music throughout the weekend, and a children’s area with games and activities. The Goat Gallop 5K is on Saturday morning, and it’s a great preparation for the amazing food during the rest of the weekend. Also enjoy beer and wine tastings, washer and horseshoe pitching tournaments, and more.
