A showcase of one-of-a-kind bowls handcrafted by professional and student artists helps fight community hunger. Guests enjoy a sampling of gourmet soups prepared by chefs from local restaurants. Each participant takes home a handcrafted bowl.
Second Saturday Bird Walks

Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place
Second Saturday Bird Walks in the Heard Wildlife Sanctuary are offered by volunteers from the Prairie and Timbers Audubon Society. These bird walks are intended to help beginning and intermediate birders with bird spotting and identification techniques. There are also plenty of opportunities provided for participants to ask questions from experienced birders. Prairie, woodland, and wetland habitats are included in these walks.
MillHouse MuralFest
June 1-2
McKinney Cotton Mill, 610 Elm St.
Five muralists are commissioned to paint original designs on the southeast walls of the historic Cotton Mill facility. New this year, artists also paint murals on a temporary wall as well as mobile murals, which are available for purchase via online auction. Muralists receive complimentary mentor sessions provided by MillHouse studio artist and muralist Alli Koch of Alli K Design. The outdoor, juried festival is open to the public, free of charge. Live music fills the air, and VIP tickets are available.

Native Texas Butterfly House and Garden

Walk among native butterflies and other pollinators in the Native Texas Butterfly House and Garden. The butterfly house includes native species, which vary by season and what is available from suppliers. The butterfly garden is filled with host plants that naturally attract these lovely creatures. You may even find new ideas to try in your own garden.
Night Out at the Heard

Join Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary for an evening of live music, delicious cuisine, and a relaxed atmosphere at a fundraising event. This adults-only gathering invites you to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures under the stars, including dancing, food trucks, and a cash bar.
MillHouse Summer ArtFest

Beat the summer heat at an indoor art festival. Explore juried art by local artisans showcased against the grandeur of century-old architecture. Food by Flaming Grill Barbecue and drinks by Amazing Bartending Services are available. White Box Roastery is open with coffee, tea, pastries, and snacks.
Dinosaurs Live!

Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place
Encounter the 46-foot-tall T. rex and new life-sized animatronic dinosaurs along the nature trails at the annual exhibit. The exhibit always gives families and friends a fun, educational activity to enjoy together. See the dinosaurs move and hear them roar. An outdoor fossil dig is available for kids. The dinosaur trail is great for jogging strollers, but not suitable for strollers with small wheels or wheelchairs.
