Cinco de Mayo Celebration

The city of Mesquite and Hispanic Forum of Mesquite celebrate Cinco de Mayo with festivities that begin at noon and include authentic Mexican food, performances by folklórico dancers, live music from mariachi bands and local singers, a kids’ activity area with free arts and crafts and piñata breaks, and a jalapeño-eating contest.

Championship Rodeo

The world-famous Mesquite Championship Rodeo is back every Saturday night this summer. This is a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo, and in 2020, it was awarded the PRCA Small Rodeo of the Year award. Live music follows the action each night.

The Mesquite Arts Center presents two exhibitions featuring works by Dallas-based artists Marc Dominus, who uses found objects to “manipulate paints into layers of shape, color, and texture,” and Alec DeJesus, whose paintings and murals have been on display and seen around Big D since his move to Texas from Illinois in 2018.
