Hosted by The Texas Supremacy of Music and Arts Conservatory (TSMAC), Revive the Culture HBCU Power Camp is a dynamic two-day marching band camp specifically designed for students in grades 6-12. This unique program is led by band and dance directors from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and provides comprehensive instruction in the HBCU show-style perspective of marching, band dance, majorettes, color guard, and cheerleading. The camp is completely free for participants, who are required to have at least one year of experience in their respective performing arts disciplines. The camp aims to serve over 1,500 students from 18 Dallas schools, focusing on those who are socio-economically disadvantaged. The first day of the camp is dedicated to practice, team building, and rehearsal of musical content provided to the students prior to the event. On the second day, the showcase begins, allowing small groups of students to demonstrate their learning to a large audience, including parents, guardians, district and school board representatives, and local elected officials. This event not only highlights the importance of performing arts among urban communities, but also provides a platform for students to showcase their talents and hard work.
