Old Yeller Day

On the last Saturday of September, the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library hosts Old Yeller Day to celebrate the frontier heritage of Mason, as well as the writer Fred Gipson, who was from Mason. Arts and crafts booths, food, authors, performers, and a dog parade are just some of the annual festivities. A free rabies clinic is also hosted for the first 50 people, courtesy of Ole Yellow Animal Rescue. There's also a free showing of the film "Old Yeller" at the historic Odeon Theater.
