Crawfish

Whether you know them as a crawfish, crawdads, crayfish, mudbugs or otherwise, it’s the season for these tasty crustacean critters, and numerous festivals are here to celebrate!  Here are just a few picks from our event listings to get your mouth watering.

SEALY: Sealy KC Cajun Crawfish Festival, April 24-25
Enjoy music at the pavilion, plus bean bag and washers game tournaments Friday. On Saturday, there’s more live music, a raffle and all-you-can-eat crawfish and gumbo.

LONGVIEW: Harvest Festival Crawfish Boil, April 25
Enjoy all-you-can-eat crawfish with all the trimmings, plus a live Cajun band and dancing. First seating is 3-6 p.m., second seating is 7-10 p.m. Tickets required.

AUSTIN: Louisiana Swamp Thing and Crawfish Festival, April 25
Features eight Louisiana bands performing funk, brass, zydeco, Cajun and blues music, plus food vendors offering Louisiana favorites from alligator to jambalaya. Also help eat more than 7,000 pounds of crawfish, shop the craft booths and let the children play in the kids’ activity area.

SPRING: Texas Crawfish Festival, April 24-26 and May 1-3
The annual Texas Crawfish and Music Festival takes place in the historic railroad community of Old Town Spring. It is one of the largest and longest-running festivals in the Houston area, featuring local, regional and national music entertainment; local artists and vendors; and some of the tastiest mudbugs in the South.

TOMBALL: Rails and Tails Mudbug Festival, May 2
Enjoy tasty crawfish along with music, fun and more food. Headliners include the “Louisiana Rockin’ Fiddler” Waylon Thibodeaux on Saturday and The Fab 5 on Sunday. Competitive boudin ball eating contest Friday and mudbug racing Saturday.

LONGVIEW: Mudbugs and Music, May 2
Includes a crawfish boil, beer, margaritas and live entertainment.

PORT O’CONNOR: Crawfish Festival and Cook-Off, May 2
Enjoy crawfish cooking and eating events, plus vendors, music and games.

FREDERICKSBURG: Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival, May 22-24
This festival dedicated to music, entertainment, food, beverages and fun is inspired by all things Cajun.
