“Lake Fork is in the heart of East Texas. the area enjoys year-round visitors from many states. Located on the rim of the beautiful Piney Woods of East Texas, the lake has 315 miles of shoreline.” —DANA DONAHUE, LAKE FORK

According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, “more than 65 percent of the Texas Top 50 largest bass” were caught here, including the No. 1 largemouth, weighing in at 18-plus pounds. Birding is big, too. Enjoy lakeside lodges, cabins, and campgrounds, along with golfing, and an assortment of diversions in surrounding towns.
