The Bastrop County Historical Society hosts “Soul Circuit: Juneteenth Rodeos in Texas,” a traveling exhibition from Humanities Texas about the African American rodeo network of small town rodeos that carried on the heritage of Black cowboys in America, including right here in Bastrop County. Don’t miss this superb exhibit about one of Texas’s most cherished traditions.

Día de Los Muertos Ofrendas

Celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a time-honored Mexican tradition that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed. Visitors can view beautiful altars (ofrendas) created by local families, each decorated with photos, candles, marigolds, favorite foods, and other meaningful items while learning about the many traditions behind this powerful holiday. The Museum also hosts a special community altar, and all are welcome to contribute by adding a photo or memento in remembrance of someone special.
