Gillespie County Fair

Gillespie County Fairgrounds and Exhibition Hall, 530 Fair Drive
The oldest continuous county fair in Texas celebrates its 138th year. Held over the course of four days, it includes two days of pari-mutuel horse racing, livestock shows, agricultural exhibits, a carnival and midway, household exhibits, arts and crafts, an antique tractor show, 42 domino tournament, and live music.
First Weekend at the Museum

On the Friday before the first Saturday of the month, the Pioneer Museum and the Vereins Kirche Museum offer guests the opportunity to explore a temporary exhibit in the museum store, demonstrations (spinner, handwerker, and blacksmithing), the Frontier Company Interpretive Living Historians, a family hands-on activity, and a scavenger hunt for Frederick Burger.

Redbud Artisan Market

Redbud Artisan Market, now in the 10th year, is an art and fine craft show, featuring the handcrafted work of over 50 Texas artisans. Works include paintings, woodworking, jewelry, glass art, and photography. There’s live music and free admission, as always.
Historic School Open Houses

Enjoy learning about early education in Gillespie County. The Friends of Gillespie County Country Schools, a nonprofit organization focused on the preservation of 12 one-room schoolhouses built in and around Fredericksburg between 1881 and 1936, hosts open houses from March through October. This month, the featured schools are Cherry Spring, Williams Creek (Albert), and Crabapple.
Classic Car and Truck Show

The 10th annual Classic Car and Truck Show features 75 of the coolest classic vehicles. Admission is free with a donation of three cans of food or a cash donation for the local food bank.
Oktoberfest

One of Fredericksburg’s annual festivals brings a little bit of Bavaria to the Hill Country. Three days of singing, toasting, dancing, and “gemutlichkeit” (friendliness) is featured at the 46th Oktoberfest. Expect food, a waltz contest, artisans, a polka contest, and dirndle and lederhosen contests.
Texas Mesquite and Fine Art Spectacular

The Texas Mesquite and Fine Art Spectacular is a small-town art fair in Texas where patrons discover unique treasures made by hand. Art varies each year, but expect spectacular furniture, turnings, mantels, delicate scroll work, charcuteries, sculpture, pens and pencils, lamps, and a host of unique items featuring Texas’ own mesquite wood.
Grape Stomp

Roll up your pants, jump in the barrel, and channel your inner winemaker. The annual Grape Stomp is a playful nod to old-world winemaking and yes, it’s just as fun (and messy) as it sounds.
Knights of Columbus Bestfest

Bestfest is fun for all with craft beer, an all-you-can-eat specialty sausage meal, polka and country bands, dancing, a multi-gun raffle, Kawasaki mule raffle, bucket raffles, and children’s activities. Beer, wine, and soft drinks are available for purchase. Proceeds benefit charitable giving of the Knights of Columbus Council 9765.

The Texas Woodworkers Market is an art and fine-craft show just for woodworkers. This is the second annual show and close to 50 woodworkers are present to sell their creative wood pieces, both artsy and functional. There’s live music and free admission.
