“One of a Kind: The Art and Music of Bobby Whitlock”

Rock musician Bobby Whitlock was best known as a songwriter and performer, co-founding Derek and the Dominoes with Eric Clapton, and having performed on George Harrison’s 1970 triple album “All Things Must Pass.” In his later years, he found painting to be outlet for creative expression. Having worked in collaboration with Whitlock and his wife and longtime musical partner, CoCo Carmel, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts presents an interactive exhibition of Whitlock’s dynamic paintings, together with music and memorabilia from the course of his long career.

The Sacred Springs Powwow is a two-day annual celebration honoring the culture, art, traditions, and languages of the Coahuiltecans, the Native people who have lived in the San Marcos area for thousands of years. Held at the Meadows Center, the event features more than 100 Native dancers competing in stunning, handcrafted regalia to the rhythm of traditional drums and songs. Guests can explore a market of more than 50 arts and crafts vendors and enjoy storytelling, live performances, and educational programs in the Native Cultures Tent.
