On the western outskirts of Marfa, the Stardust Motel sign rises along US 90. The motel closed years ago, but the sign, a favorite subject for photographers, still stands in the now-empty lot. Characteristic of this sparsely populated area of West Texas, the skies around Marfa provide stunning views of the Milky Way.
