This year marks the eighth annual Father’s Day Weekend where dads and kids alike have competed in this classic event. The weekend offers a parade, food and craft vendors, live music and a street dance, and the Derby Hat Contest.

Jefferson: June 17
All aboard the Historic Jefferson Railway. This special Father’s Day steam train includes a stop at the Diamond Don Gator Pit for alligator feeding.

Explore the worlds created by Maurice Sendak, author of “Where the Wild Things Are,” at the Discovery Place Interactive Museum. Then make and take a gift for dad… proving even wild things can be tamed.

Dallas: June 17-18
Guitarist/vocalist Randy Vrandenburg will be performing live in the Pecan Grove on Saturday and Sunday for those who want to celebrate dad with a relaxing picnic and some music. Families can also enjoy barbecue paired with local beers at the garden’s Café on the Green.

Head to the intersection of 51st Street and North Lamar for this free annual show—more than 400 automobiles were displayed at last year’s event.
