Not many places have the distinction of inspiring a George Strait hit such as “Amarillo by Morning.”

“Amarillo, the best-kept secret in Texas.”
— JOYCE KNIGHT, Amarillo

The rodeo-cowboy song is a fitting introduction to Amarillo, which anchors the Panhandle ranching region and proudly displays its Western heritage at places like the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum. But Amarillo’s not all bull riders and beef. Facilities such as the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts, the Amarillo Museum of Art, the Sisemore RV Museum, and the Route 66 District round out Amarillo’s cultural and entertainment story.
