The saying “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure” certainly rings true for prolific art-car creator Mark David Bradford. Better known as “Scrapdaddy,” this Houston sculptor is famed for bringing life to his giant, robotic creations made from material found in scrapyards.
South Texans will now have the opportunity to view these innovative piecÂes—from his motorized art cars to smaller, fixed sculptures—at a solo exhiÂbition at the Beeville Art Museum. The exhibit will be on view throughout the museum, with displays both indoors and out. Many of Bradford’s pieces incorporate hydraulics and movement, and visitors can interact with and maÂnipulate the junkyard creations.
To kick off the exhibit, there will be a performance and walking demonstraÂtion by one of Scrapdaddy’s wilder creations, Mr. Green (right). Made solely from recycled materials, Mr. Green stands more than 12 feet high and seven feet wide, and took some 10 months to construct.
