Outlaw Rodeo and Sutton County Days

Sonora: Aug. 9-10

Take in a rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights and a dance on Saturday featuring Two Tons of Steel, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, and Fuerzzo. There is also a parade, arts and crafts, food vendors, the Little Mr. and Little Miss Sutton County contest, and the crowning of the new Miss Sutton County.

Doggie Splash Day

Mesquite: Aug. 10

All dogs and their owners are invited to this annual event at Vanston Pool to cool off, compete for prizes, or just play at the pool. All dogs will be required to show proof of current vaccinations and must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 and older.

Oldham County Roundup and 5K Water Color Run

Vega: Aug. 10

Color yourself happy at the 5K Color Run that takes place the morning of the Oldham County Roundup celebration. The parade and free Barbecue Feed takes place later that morning. The entire weekend is full of festivities and fun for the family with a street dance, the cooking of the Beef and Beans, and softball tournament.

Dogwood Jamboree “The Golden Age Of Country”

Goliad Market Days

Goliad: Aug. 10

This open-air, outdoor market has vendors placed around the beautiful courthouse square. The vendors and variety change each month, but typically there are 100 or more vendors in attendance. Local shops and restaurants are open with unique clothing, arts, and home decor.

Chappell Hill Wine and Lavender Festival

Brenham: Aug. 10

This one-day festival has craft vendors, live music, lavender cuisine, plants for sale, miniature animals, and demonstrations.

Sacred Harp Singing Convention

The 164th annual event celebrates a historic form of folk-christian music with a cappella singing and four-part harmonies.
