Native Plant Society of Texas Fall Symposium

In 1991, the Native Plant Society of Texas initiated an educational project designed to explore the ecology of the many vegetation regions of Texas through a series of symposia undertaken in conjunction with its annual members’ meeting. Every fall, the meeting convenes in a different region which focuses of that year’s symposium. Field trips, workshops, and exhibits complement the presentations that are open to the public.
Big Bend Bluegrass Festival

Alpine’s mild weather makes it an attractive year-round destination, and the town is certified with an official Music Friendly Communities designation from the Texas Music Office. The inaugural Bluegrass Festival line-up includes the Kody Norris Show, the Edgar Loudermilk, the Old Rugged Choir, Second Time Around, Bluegrass Express, and Calamity Creek. Enjoy jamming, concessions, workshops, and drawings.
