Lee County Fair and Charcoal Challenge Barbecue
May 16-18

On the third weekend in May, the Lee County Fair takes center state in Giddings. Activities include live music, shopping, local art and food contests, and a carnival with an antique carousel open for the kids. Friday is Senior Citizens Day and Saturday includes an Armed Forces Day ceremony and parade. At the Charcoal Challenge Barbecue Cookoff, teams from all over Central Texas compete in a variety of foods, drinks, and barbecue.
Freedom Fest
July 3
Veterans Honor Park, 200 Raymond St.
Gather at Veterans Park for a music festival just like the good ol’ days. Bring your blankets and coolers and have a picnic on the grass while listening to some tunes. Nearby is Veterans Honor Park with a memorial to all Lee County veterans as well as a military tank display. Also on site is the Giddings Water Park where kids can splash around, and cornhole equipment for you to enjoy with your family or friends.
Fireman’s Fourth of July Celebration

Start with a lazy day in the park at Fireman’s Park, as the Giddings Volunteer Fire Department cooks up some delicious barbecue at their fundraiser. Then, bid on some great items at their annual auction. In the evening, you can trek over to the rodeo arena next door for the Fury on the Fourth Championship Bull Riding event. Afterwards, return to the park for a spectacular fireworks display.

Enjoy some championship bull riding at Fury on the Fourth. Brave cowboys and powerful bulls provide excitement, and you can cheer for the youngsters as they take on mutton bustin’. The event is followed by a dance.
Summer Melodrama Theater
July 26-28
First Assembly of God Church, 1050 N. Orange St.
Cheer the hero and boo the villain in this live performance melodrama for the whole family. See great stories with dashing heroes, beautiful damsels in distress, and comically villainous villains. There’s always a happy ending as the hero rides off into the sunset. Performances are one act and last around an hour. Concessions are available. All performances are free and open to the public.
Christmas in July Sip and Shop

Capture the Christmas season early at the Christmas in July Sip and Shop. Browse the colorful wares of craft vendors while you sip on a cool beverage as seasonal tunes fill the air. Crafts include woodworking, handicrafts, décor, bath and body products, candles, jewelry, accessories, clothing, and tasty treats.
