Fly It Port A hosts this open kite fly on the beach. BYOK (Bring Your Own Kite) and help decorate the sky or simply come watch the show. Flyers start setting up around 10 a.m. near beach marker 13 and fly all day weather permitting. There may even be night kites.

Fishin’ Fiesta

Since 1947, anglers have been drawn to this fishing tournament each year in the hopes of catching the biggest redfish, barracuda, or any other offshore or inshore fish. There’s also lots of games, food, live entertainment, dances, arts and crafts, and a fireworks display on Saturday night.

This tournament pioneered the concept of a video-release format, with points awarded for blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. All fish in those divisions are released. Targeted meat fish brought to the dock for weigh-in are dorado, wahoo, tuna, and swordfish.

This tournament pioneered the concept of a video-release format with points awarded for blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. It is unique in that once you are registered in the tournament, you may depart from any Texas port. The Port Aransas weigh-in and awards allows fisherman easy access to the natural offshore structure and deep-water rigs for which this area is famous.
