Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival (CANCELED)
The 31st season of this festival presents cornerstones of the orchestral repertoire, including Stravinsky's "Suite from The Firebird," an all-Beethoven program boasting his inimitable Symphony No. 5 and "The Choral Fantasy," and the showpiece by Richard Strauss, "Don Juan." Texas Music Festival’s international music residency draws classical music’s rising stars from premier music schools and conservatories from around the world to Houston to study and perform under the batons of maestros such as Gerard Schwarz, making his TMF debut, distinguished Austrian conductor Hans Graf, and Franz Anton Krager, TMF Music Director and Chief Conductor at University of Houston Moores School of Music. Based at the University of Houston Moores School of Music, the one-month music residency features performances by gifted student musicians and distinguished conductors and faculty artists in more than 30 performances, including the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist concerto competition. All concerts are open to the public at Moores Opera House, UH Main Campus. Admission for single tickets is $25 and students and seniors, $15. Full orchestra concerts are held June 13, 20, and 27, with a Friday concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands on June 19.
