It appears millennials prefer showers over baths, at least when they’re staying at a hotel. And to please this growing demographic of travelers, some hotel companies in Texas and beyond are renovating their bathrooms to replace bathtubs with showers.
In a recent story in The Dallas Morning News, journalist Karen Robinson-Jacobs reports that multimillion dollar renovations at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel and the Sheraton Hotel Dallas include replacing most rooms’ bathtubs with showers. Hilton’s new Tru brand, which has multiple hotels across Texas, only offers walk-in showers.
People who study this type of thing told the newspaper that younger generations tend to prefer showers because showers are faster and because they’re less concerned with lodging luxury than exploring their destination city.
But don’t worry if you’re a traveler who loves taking baths. Hotels are keeping bathtubs in some of their rooms for families traveling with small children and others who just want to soak.
